So, I opened up the air can on my deluxe rt shock and the whole thing went pop and exploded fizzy pink oil across the whole room.

Shock is less than a year old. I guess that probably explains the slightly odd clunk I’ve been hearing from the suspension over the past few weeks.......

It doesn't look that broken. The shimstack piston has come adrift from the damper rod. The shock will require a full strip and rebuild, but may not require any more bits. Don't forget to vent the IFP before further disassembly

Yeah, I am more worried if there’s any damage - scratches, scoring and the like or stripped threads - inside the damper assembly. If the shock was out of warranty, I’d open it up myself but as it’s only 10 months old, I’ll let RockShox fox it for me.

When the shock let go, it sprayed pink oily foam all over my shed. Very dramatic.

I’m also wondering whether to use this as an excuse to get a better shock Wink

Sram gave me a replacement, no questions asked.

However I bought a dvo topaz in the meantime. Smile
