Im new to building bikes in buying a used yt tues frame and building a downhill bike.

Groupsets im very lost with all the words and makes associated. 9 speed or 10 speed?

Deore, xt? Etc
Can anyone recomend a cheap good driverrain i can make using used components ie: deord xt crankset, zee derailer, xt rear mech (just example) so o can build a full drivetrain cheap using mostly used parts

Also need brakes suggestion

Zee is good bang for the buch real DH stuff. 4 pot brakes and less $ than Saint.

• Match the number of "speeds" (sprockets) in the cassette and shifter.
• The brand of shifter and derailleur should match, but the models are generally interchangeable.
• Most derailleurs in the past several years have a "clutch": a mechanism that allows them to freely take up chain slack, but they resist letting out slack. This greatly reduces chain slap and dropped chains. You don't need this, but you'll like it. You can usually identify this mechanism by a bulkier region where the lower (somewhat vertical) arm of the derailleur meets the parallelogram mechanism (the mostly horizontal portion).

As others have mentioned, Shimano SLX or Zee are good components at a reasonable price and mostly compatible with XT, if you already have some XT bits. Some of the components in SLX and Zee are identical and shared between the two groups.

Shimano Zee is DH oriented group and its like Saint for the ones with less money. Buy crankset, deraileur, shifter and brakes with "Zee" on them and it will work and be 100% compatible Big Grin
