Dear forum

My 14 year old son had his Giant Reign 2011 in medium with 26 inch wheels stolen.
We want to replace with a bike in the £100-£1500 range and need some advice.

we found a 2015 Reign 1 Advanced for £1000 and a Reign 1 2018 for £1600

The 2018 is in better condition with less use but the Advanced is the carbon frame version.

The Advance is here - https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/2577259/

The 2018 is here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Giant-reign-1-alloy-Red-2018-27-5-enduro-dt-swiss-medium-rock-show/143472556875?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D6de3ecf16ef74eaf933bc9f8182436bd%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D312528080845%26itm%3D143472556875%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aa373d08a-2975-11ea-86a6-74dbd180b5bb%7Cparentrq%3A4cafb75816f0a4b77cc95005ff94b3e6%7Ciid%3A1

What would you learned riders advise ?

Thanks

I’d probably go with the newer, aluminum bike. Not much to be gained going carbon; maybe a couple pounds to be lost is all.

The 2018 will have better geometry and more of the modern standards I'd recommend get a as new as you can afford
