I'll start with this, I am new to full suspensions. I'm looking at the $2000 range. I love to ride everything, street hucking, backcountry epics, and bikepark rippin'.
Ideal specs:
-140mm to 150mm front
-130mm to 150mm rear
-12 speed
- Dropper equipped or capable of such
-65° to 67° HT angle

A good 12-speed drivetrain could cost half your budget; if you don’t need a 50 or 51t cog you could save with a 1X10 or 11. Search the Pinkbike BuySell pages for what slightly used bikes that meet your specs are selling for.

My buddy got a Fezzari Abajo Peak last year and he loves it. I haven't personally ridden it, but it appears to be a solid contender or an entry-level full-suspension bike.
