I want to remove the remote lockout from my Rock Shox front and rear shocks, I hardly ever use it and want to shave grams from it as its my XC bike. I also want to add weight with a dropper post and add a replacement remote!
I gather you cannot just remove as default position is locked out, which of course is daft. Do I need to buy a replacement fork crown kit thing?
If you want to save some money you can use a short amount of cable to force the suspension into the open position. On the fork you could also just remove the spring the forces the lockout closed. This should work assuming your remote lockout is cable actuated and not hydraulic.
If you would rather do it the more official way, you will need a new damper for your fork. The correct damper depends on the make and model of your fork. As far as I'm aware you won't be able to remove the remote lockout on your rear shock, you would have to get a new rear shock.
I want to do this too. Go to page 10 of the SID Service Manual: https://www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/service-manuals/rockshox/front-suspension/gen.0000000006161-rev-a-2021-sid-and-sid-sl-service-manual.pdf
The top cap is the same. Bottom left shows the Twistloc remote apparatus, the main drawing has what looks like a lever that can replace the Twistloc stuff.
I need that lever! Anyone? Can’t find a PN on any service part drawings
