Hi I have a 2020 felt decree 3 has rock shox revelation 150mm front fork and RockShox Deluxe RT3, Debonair with custom tune, 205 x 62.5mm Trunnion rear shock

I want more travel ... I understand the front forks I want the fox 36 160 mm but the rear shocks confuse me? I want the fox float x2 shock my bro has that set up on his intense and it’s solid ...does that rear have more travel then my deluxe and would I just get the same 205x62.5mm? Is that the size to bolt it on .. I always hear people say 160mm front forks and 150mm rear but none of the rear shocks I see say the mm Thanks newbie

Your rear shock has to keep the same eye-to-eye measurement (205mm in your case), but generally you can play around with the stroke length a bit. Most 205mm shocks are able to have strokes of 60mm, 62.5mm, and 65mm. You have to be careful when increasing stroke though because the linkage could potentially contact the frame, so as a test I would let all the air out of your current shock, compress it all the way, and see how close your linkage is to contacting your frame. It is almost always possible for suspension shops to reduce the stroke if the 65mm ends up being too long. This will only add a couple extra mm of travel (probably less than 10mm extra) so most people just keep the same stroke as to not risk voiding their warranty by putting something the frame wasn't designed for

Ooo ok so my 205 is eye measurement so I need that forsure size and the 62.5 is my stroke so If I got that size in fox shock it would be same travel as my rockshox? therefor pointless? But if I did 205 65 then it’s more travel but gotta make sure my bike can run it

And if I ran 160 mm 36 forks with my rear shock would it throw it all off ?

Just check if 65 mm of stroke would fit, it is most probably the case but you want to be certain.
Then 36 160 mm front and 205x65 float x2 in the back is a nice combo, for sure.
