Whats up guys! Im looking for a new bike and currently between these two models. Im trying to get more bang for my buck as I get my first FS. Obviously the suspension, and the drivetrain are different. But for the future with upgrades (new wheelset, brakes etc.) What are some of the pros and cons that are out there?

Ive added the links below to what Im looking at. I wanna pull the trigger here in the next few days.

Thanks in advance!

The Fuel EX is definitely beefier: bigger tires, more travel front/rear, and a super stout frame. What type of riding do you plan to do?

Right now it’s mainly trails. I’m starting to do jumps but not that confident on my current bike. Eventually I want to move to Colorado and do more all mountain and down hill! But that’s why I put “easier” to upgrade. Or I guess that’s more upgrade friendly. I’m 6’3, 220lbs I’m not worried about beefier.

I'd guess both are equally upgradeable. But the 2020 Fuel, with its modern geometry and aforementioned beefitude, is better suited for riding toward the AM/DF end of the continuum vis-a-vis the Specialized.
