Hey I'm thinking about buying a new bike and am currently torn between these two. I know they are quite different in that the reign would be more gravity focused but for my purposes they don't seem a million miles away from each other.
Questions I have are has anybody ridden both and can speak to the Treks capability? I like the idea of having a more nimble bike but have always had more gravity focused bikes (a GT Saction and a commencal Meta SX) both of which had travel similar to the Reign.
I loved my 2 previous bikes but I used to live in BC (Whistler/Squamish) I have since moved back home to Ireland and not sure what to go for? I really like the look of the Remedy and the spec you get for the price of the 8 seems to be very good but having said that the Giant ooks like great value too. I don't really think I can go wrong but wondering what people would do?
I'm pretty set on 27.5 as I'm 5'8" I don't see myself racing any time soon and just like having fun on the bike. The reason I'm looking at these two is that they fall in my price range and I can use my companies bike to work scheme to save some money.
Trek remedy a few years ago was a poppy, blow-through-travel light-steering bike at least compared to my 27.5 slash, maybe more versatile and efficient. Slash is a beast tho so we’ll never know.
I don’t know about modern reigns. Are you in the north? If so CRC do bike to work sales, they sell commencals and nukeproofs for sensible money!

I'm the south but think I can get CRC bikes on bike to work, commencal slightly outside my price range. The Nukeproof Mega 27.5 Comp fits the bill but spec doesn't seem quite as good as the Trek or Reign
For the same spec the commencals on CRC are just outside my price range unfortunately
I ride a 2019 trek remedy8 and can't fault it my self, I find the bike pedals really well on the climbs, and agile and poppy on the decents, I went with the 8 as you said the spec is great value, I did change the brakes to Shimano as that's what I prefer, hope that can help you, sadly I can't comment for the reign
