Super deluxe stuck open after installing tokens

I must’ve not cycled all of the air out of the negative chamber before opening up the can. Now, I have a shock with the stanchion sucked up all the way, and I’m unable to get the can to close enough to reach the threads, no matter how hard I compress the whole shock. Any ideas fellow kooks?
