Does anyone know how big i can go for suspension on my 2020 trek fuel ex5 ? I am looking at a fox 36 and a fox dhx2 coil shock. Will this setup work on this frame?

Open to suggestions

I personally wouldn't go past a 150mm fork out front. I think a DHX2 would work fine on a fuel, although you'd need to run the same size as what you were running before out back. Personally I'd consider a larger volume air shock like the DPX2 before running a coil on the fuel.... I'm sure it would work fine for most people but I think you'd have to run a really high pound spring to get it reasonable.

I have a 150mm 36 on the front and its great, I would not go coil on the back though, DPX2 or the new Float X2 would be a better choice

I think there's something wrong with your 40s

So a DHX2 works incredibly well on the new Fuel's. I was told by someone who works for trek and posts on these forums that it would not fit. I'm really glad I took it upon myself to try it as it fits with room to spare. If I'm being honest this has been the single greatest upgrade I have ever made on a mountain bike. The way it eats up almost everything to me is game changing. It only weighs about a half a pound more than a DPX2 with the SLS spring. And it pedals really well. I rarely use the climb switch. At this point I will never go back to an air shock.

Big Grin Spare stickers from a FOX kit, kind of a running joke with a friend.

Float X2 does NOT fit on a 2020 carbon frame. It makes contact with the kink in the seat tube.

I have seen pictures of them on the aluminum frames though.

Does anyone know if you have to press out the inner sleve of the x fusion and press it into the fox dpx2, 2021 fuel ex 5, thanks

You don't need to press it out. You can just slide those metal things out of the eyelet with a bit of force. But I would suggest getting other hardware for the shock because metal on poly bushings just doesn't seem right to me.

Have you already installed a new shock?
