wow. nobody has an opinion? im not on here a lot, but i would look for an 8-speed ie older Trek or Specialized. 700c wheels, Shimano 105 group works pretty well, aluminum or steel frame. Try Craigslist.

Came here hoping to find more info also. Never ridden road before but considering a cheap bike as a backup for when the trails are wet and for more exercise.

I'm eyeing the Trek Domane AL 2 (non disc version) which retails for $879. Its the bottom of the Trek road lineup and pretty much a no-frills bike. Not sure if anyone has any feedback for this model.

No experience with road bikes but I’ve done research on this bike vs the specialized allez at $900.

IMO the Allez May be a better pick if you like the color options and it has internal cable routing for a cleaner looking bike. Same components as well.
