Have a new Rocky 2020 Thunderbolt A30. It keeps dropping the chain/gear on the cogset when I sit and start to pedal. Shop says it is a known issue with the bike. It has a 1x 12 with a chain guide up front.
Anyone have suggestions for a remedy?

I would ask the shop what’s the issue that causes these chain drops on Thunderbolt A30s. If they are a RM dealer, I would make them resolve the issue with RM. I don’t see how a specific bike design causes the chain to drop and think your shop doesn’t have something set right. My 1999 Element and 2014 Altitude never drop chains. I have never ridden a Thunderbolt, but the bike looks like an Altitude with less travel.

Make sure everything is oiled and clean, rear axle not too tight or too lose, right chain (12-speed), clutch on derailleur not too tight. If you bought the bike new, make the shop fix it. If they can’t, swap out drivetrain components until it works.
