How often do bearings need to be changed?
I’ve been riding several times a week for about six months.
Mileage is hard to tell but I’m climbing about 6000’ week if that matters.

If they have no play, no notchiness, keep them free of dirt, grease the axle and a little behind the dust covers and ride.

Thanks
I don’t know how to tell if they have play
Perhaps I’ll just take the bike in and have a mechanic look at it
Hate to spend ~$200 for a tuneup but it might be worth it just to have them check the bearings
Shifting like crap and the brakes need a bleed anyway

I do all that myself. I can't imagine spending a couple hun in a bike shop with nothing to really show for it. Learn this stuff and invest in a few tools. Youtube can help ya do about anything.

Play? I lift and push on the seat without engsging the susp. Typically, you will feel the slightest play. You can also remove the shock and put the linkage thru the travel and feel for anything other than smooth travel.

Yeah I like the idea of doing stuff myself but I don’t know much about bikes.
I’ve been fixing a few things like putting on a new dropper lever and cable, new derailleur cable, brake pads etc.
I just thought frame bearings might be too tricky for me.
