Hi, I'm trying to construct a box to store 3 bikes and I want it to be able to fit the largest bike that might use it. Based on wheel base dimensions plus 29" wheel I'm thinking 80" would cover the length plus a couple inches, but I don't know how tall the handlebars would be on a bike that size. If anyone owns an xl frame 29er and want's to measure from floor to top of handlebars for me that would be awesome!

I have a 2020 Ibis Ripmo XL Frame
43" to the highest part of the handlebars.
Tires- tip to tip 78"

My XL Raaw Madonna v2 has a 82” length. I think it’s certainly on the longer end of things. Maybe Pole has longer frames?

Don't forget width. Many bikes come with 800mm wide bars these days.

I've been pondering this same design problem. My XL Norco Range 29er is around 78" long so 80" will be close but should be fine. The outer diameter of the wheels is around 29.5" so you could check against specified wheelbases. The longest bike I think I've tried is the XL SantaCruz which has a wheelbase of 49.8", giving a total length of 79.3. So yes 80". And yes you need 800mm width though if you were storing multiple bikes you could back them into wheel holders but then have the front wheels at different heights so the bars could overlap.
