This is driving me nuts. The XL feels a touch too big and the L feels a touch too small. So what's more important? A helmet sitting further down with a little side to side play? Or a helmet fitting nice n secure but being kinda "on top of the head" and not wrapping towards the ears?

In my opinion (and I am no expert!), I would go with the XL helmet. Looking at your pics, it seems like you have more protection with the bigger helmet. Of course, then the goggles become an issue, and that would be a pain in the ass while you are riding, if the helmet pushes down on the goggles. But yeah, if it's me, I'd go with the XL.

I would try some other vendor, it should be perfect fit, n ot a little too small or a little too big.
I'm also between sizes and had to try 5 different vendors to find perfect fit (it was TLD in the end) Smile

Thanks guys. I talked to 661 and stuck with the Large and it broke in a bit better so it sits appropriately above the brow. The XL would have just been worse and worse over time.

Definitely bummed it wasn't perfect so if I replace helmets I'm gonna try Giro or Bell.
