I realised that there are two Druid threads and this one looks more active, so please forgive me double posting.

What size should I get? I'm looking at getting a Druid as a very different ride to my large YT Jeffsy. I'm after something that'll be more fun on our tight twisty trails, but still capable for the drops and jumps on those trails. I'm 179cm tall. Thoughts?

I'm 167 cm and went up to a medium frame, mullet set up. The bike doesn't feel big at all on me, so I think you could get on a large comfortably.

Hey everyone, I’m getting my Druid frame in a couple of days.

I can honestly say I haven’t been this excited about a new bike for a long time

Standby for pics !

Looking into buying a Druid frame set from my local shop. Can’t decide on sizing and curious to hear what others are running. I’ll be coming from a size Large 2019 Stumpjumper, and the only frame available at the shop is a Large Druid.

The druids reach is about 20mm longer than the stumpy. Not a huge deal as I’ve ridden bikes in the 470-480 range before, and with the Druid only being 465 that’s not too bad, might be good middle ground.

I’m 177cm

I'm 186 cm and went for the XL after testing the L. The top tube measurement alone provides a good base for descending and general feel, but you have to take into account the seat tube angle for pedaling missions. My knees just felt way too close to the handle bars on the L. My previous ride was 456 reach/623 stack and the Druid L @ 465/634 felt small. But the seat angles were 72.5 compared to 75.6 to put my on bike feel into numbers. There is also a slight increase in seat angle from the Stumpy to the Druid as well, which will help the transition to a longer top tube while seated.

You are bang on Forbiddens L recommendation at 177cm. Where I came in just at the XL recommendation. Unless you want the added wheelbase length or need a taller head tube then the L sounds about right from my perspective, but obviously riding them back to back will give you the best info.

Any plans for a update for the druid or frame colour changes?

I have had my Druid for 2 weeks and I have had nothing but problems. Im 120lbs so that may be the main issue but Forbidden directed me to remove 2 chain links and make it a 126. It will not shift smooth for me at all. Its clunky, basically unrideable. My husband has 15 yrs of building bikes and 20+ riding. Ive been riding for 5 and race as well. Last bike a Hightower. We have followed all the tutorials by Forbidden to set B gap and adjust chain guide. We are at a loss. Even brought it to our fav bike shop whom has 3 generations of master bike mechanics and they couldn't get it. One guy said could be a lemon. Trying to get ahold of Forbiddens build team but only reached 1 customer service experience girl says she 120 lbs also and has been riding 1 year. Not too helpful. This has been heartbreaking. Ironically I messaged a guy on here who is selling his Druid frame and he said he also has shifting issues. Hidden issue here??

You may want to post this to the Forbidden Bikes page on Facebook. You might get an answer much faster. "Forbidden Bike Co - Owners Community - OFFICIAL" --is the name.

I've removed links to help.
I'm running 126 links on my Med Dreadnought with a chain guide similar to what's on the new Norco Range and I'm having great success. Before this with the E-13 stock chain guide I dropped from the recommended 132 down to 130 and it helped. I'd try a shorter chain and or see about a longer "B" screw to help.

Seconded shorter chain, 34t chainring on my med dreadnought worked a treat, was running rough before that.

I had problems as well with my SRAM derailleur, may be the same with Shimano but can't say for sure.

I ignored the advice on the Forbidden website and actually set the B tension screw so the upper pulley is 'too close' to the cassette in the bike stand. It shifts not so well and makes a bit of a noise due to a bit of contact. BUT once you sit on the bike and start riding it around it shifts perfectly fine.

The b tension adjustment changes the distance between the upper derailleur pulley and the cassette, on the high pivot bikes this spacing constantly changes depending on where the bike is in its travel. Make sure you have the recommended spacing for your drivetrain (1 link usually) AT SAG. If you set it to the recommended spacing when the bike is unweighted then the spacing gets too much at sag and it will shift like crap on modern drivetrains.

Adding to this, I too had inconsistent shifting in my Druid. I’d set it up, and midway through a ride shifting problems would begin to develop.

It led to constant tinkering on the bike, which I don’t mind. But it did bother me on the trail. Oh, I’m running Sram.

Since then I decided to try an AXS upgrade kit, replacing the shifter and derailleur. Problem solved!

I suspect that as the rear suspension moves, and shifting occurs, the cable compresses somehow and alters the behaviour of the derailleur. Just a suspicion, I can’t back it up with hard data.

But I can honestly say that my shifting woes have ended with the removal of the shift cable .

Hope that helps folk out there. It’s just a shame that this solution isn’t cheap.
