If you are looking for a project, I built my son a 2008 Specialized Safire expert. Converted to 1x10 with shorter cranks and put on 24" wheels. Bought it used of course at a reasonable price and it had a dual air sid fork already which is pretty light and replaced to brain rear shock with a Raidon and he loves it. About 25lbs and can place 26" wheels as he gets bigger, might go mullet as well. For under $800 its hard to beat.
Also built up a 1x10 Scott Contessa jr for my daughter with 120mm cranks and F1rst fork on a used frame, about 21lbs and $500 all in

I built up a bad ass Spawn for my daughter a few years back. Turns out she’s not much of a grom, though.

I don’t see a place to talk about kids bikes. I’m not referring to those battle ships at Walmart either.

My girl is about to graduate into a 24” bike and i’de preferably like to build something nice. And get opinions where, and where not, to put your money.
my little sister has a norco fluid hardtail and it’s pretty good when mine was broke I even took it bike park and did some 15ft jumps on it and it was pretty good. Like a tiny dj that just hurts your back
