All you kiddies may not remember, but mullet setups are nothing new. This was my bike from 2004. Specialized Big Hit Expert. 26" in front and 24" in the rear.
Running my 27.5 Pivot Firebird as a mullet since July and love it. Went with a 160mm fox 36 and also running a works -1 degree angle headset to help bring the front end down.
Feels great, still pedals really well and it’s on another level now with techy descents.
Did a mullet thingy to my sb140. Running a Pike ultimate 29er up front with 150 travel. Feels great, not super sure what changes it makes to the geo, (probably slacker head angle and higher BB) if anyone has an idea of how i can measure that feel free to comment.
Mike, I like your gravel bike set up in the video, and my next purchase may be a gravel bike. I have a RM Element 26” that I want to make a 69er mullet, but the 1999 Bomber forks still haven’t failed. No reason to fix it when it isn’t broken. I’m keeping my Altitude 27.5 front and rear, but my KTM 790R and DRZ400 are mullets
I just put a 29 front on my mondraker foxy 275. It looks neat as hell. I’m going riding Sunday. I doubt it will make a huge difference but if the ongoing results of better traction with the 29r up front it’s gotta make a difference.

I was reposting a video I enjoyed regarding mullet bikes, but that wasnt my video. I have a new Status 160 with the mullet setup, and love it. I do have a similar gravel bike, should I make it a mullet also??
My little brother is running a mullet on his 2020 Kona Honzo. It started out as a quick fix because he cracked his rim before a race. He borrowed my 27.5 wheel while my frame was out of commission. We had an old 27.5 rim laying around that would work, so we laced it up and he has had no complaints since. He says it's really stable and improved his geo to work perfectly for him. I'm even considering doing the same on my bike but with a 26" wheel.
