Very disappointed to find we are now expected to pay for Trailforks. I spend days of my own time creating and building trails, and it costs me a fair bit of my own money too. I thought Trailforks was a great way to let people know where my trails are for free. Not any more, now I build my trails, they get put on Trailforks and the people that come to ride them have to pay Trailforks to find them? What do I get for this? Trailforks just gets to profit from my hard work! Not impressed Trailforks. Looks like you are profiting from the work of others in my opinion!

Think about it from their point of view, they have put so much development time into the app, server and hosting costs and don't want the app or site to be covered in ads.

How else could you fund it? No one wants it to cost anything but in reality it does.
I'm not gonna tell you to pay for it but for me the value proposition is 100% worth it, if not you can set up your free region or use another service that sells your data for profit.

Sorry to hear you're unsatisfied with the need for Trailforks to introduce a Pro subscription to access the full app experience.
This blog post answers some of the criticism around the Pro option, data access & user contributed content

Users can also still find your trail for free without Pro

Your link says this:

"Trailforks is not selling access to the user contributed data with Pro subscriptions. The data such as reports, photos, videos, routes, ridelogs, trail descriptions, events and badges are unchanged in the app & website. Access to this data is still freely available."

But that's not true. I can't download the data that the community provided. When I go to download GPX data for a trail, your website says this:

"Download Limits
2 downloads per day for new accounts (30 days).
5 downloads per day with a limit of 100.
10 downloads per day with a limit of 500 for users with >50 TF points.
50 downloads per day with a limit of 1000 for users with >200 TF points or 15 Karma points."

If what you said is true, I should be able to download as many GPX files as I want. I understand having daily limits, but total limits is BS.
