Does anyone know or have any experience with replacing a 7 speed gx dh cassette with a 11 speed like the e13 helix-r? I completely understand that it is a horrible idea and that it’s dumb and makes the bike worse at what it’s made for, but I live in an area where I have to pedal on a 4% uphill grade for a bit until I get to the trails, and I really want to be able to bring a dh bike there. It’s a commencal supreme 2021, and it uses a 7 speed with 11 speed spacing and an 11 speed freehub body (the cassettes use the same body). Can I just swap the cassettes or do I have to do other work arounds? Also hub spacing is 150x12 instead of 150x15 which makes it harder to find hubs for.

You can put a casette like that on
The limitations include
Derailuer cage length (with lots of chainstay growth and a large low gear you can pull the cage too far)
And frame clearance.

Also good news 150x15 isn't a thing
Any 150 or 157 hub should fit.
157 is just different end caps

I see what I was looking at, most of the hubs currently are out of stock and so all I could find were fat bike hubs that use a 150mm hub with a 15mm thru axle. As for the cassette, it won't be too wide? or is the spacing adjusted accordingly? Thank you for your help.

Cassette (hub driver) standards are independent of the hub standard.

The "Commencal Supreme 2021" has a SRAM GX DH PG-720 cassette and Splined driver body compatible.
Which version of the Commencal Supreme 2021 do you have ?
There are bikes with different hubs.

I have DT Swiss and changed to a wheel with XD driver and Sram cassette XG-1195 with 10-42t from the X01 series.
You have to switch also to the X01 rear derailleur and X01 Trigger Shifter

Or there is a 10 speed solution from Shimano.RD-M820-SS which has DH and FR mode
The Freeride mode for a cassette 11-36t
The cassette to use is the Shimano CS-M771 with 11-36t

The E13 Helix R 11-Speed Cassette
https://www.ethirteen.com/collections/all-cassettes/products/helix-r-11-speed-cassette
is XD driver only.
So you have to change it as you have a Splined driver body right now
The direct replacement would be the Shimano.RD-M820-SS with 11-36t cassette

10 speed Shimano Saint is good, found out you don't need the "freeride" mode converter for the 11-32 Deore XT cassette.

With a 38T chainring it's interesting...

But definitely go with Shimano due to the ability to adjust the clutch, latest gen SRAM are not user adjustable anymore.
