My new Marzocchi Bomber CR has an off white sleeve in the eyelet. My old Rock Shox has a metal sleeve which looks like its inside is coated with some type of rust red coating. The Marzocchi came with sleeves like this that were loose in a plastic bag inside the box.
I am wanting to reuse my Rock Shox bushings. Should I remove the Fox style sleeves on the Marzocchi and press in the loose sleeves that came in the Marzocchi box? Or, do those sleeves press into the fox sleeves (and act as a reducer)?
I've tried searching all over for this answer, and cannot find anything.
From your posts it sounds like you bought a take off part, in this case a shock with hardware-bushings installed
I think you're mis naming some of the parts. Sleeves are the newer style (pin and sleeve) fox-marzocchi has 5 parts, rockshox has 4
Fox has the two bushings light yellow color, one pin (sized to your frame) and sleeves on each side of the pin to keep the shock centered.
Rockshox is the same but with only one bushing redish color
The older style, 3 part reducers one red bushing one reducer on each side- not compatible with the fox yellow bushings
To keep it simple fox and rockshox hardware are not compatible with each other The redish rockshox bushing should work with older reducer hardware. Hope this helps if not maybe a trip to the local bike shop in your future
