Hi all, haven't posted here in forever...

Trying to get back on the trials bike and I can't seem to get my HS33 to lock really well. I've got yellow pads and a med grind. I remember back in the day using tar but rather not if I dont have to.

I'll bleed them at the bike shop when I'm at work but hoping to see if anyone has other useful advice on how to maximize the stopping power.

Check your brake mounts to make sure they're not loose or cracked and beyond that and the bleed, just make sure the pads hit square to the rim.

Are they just the magura brand yellow pads? Something trials specific like a coust pad might be helpful.

Do you have a booster? If not, and the brakes are flexing outward significantly a booster can help.

I haven't used tar in about 15 years.

Going off memory there is 2 general compounds for pads. The plasticy hard stuff, and gummy brakes (the see through rubbery stuff). Gummy brakes are the best, and just work amazing always. I would get gummy pads. The plasticy hard stuff works great sometimes, and sometimes poorly.

I’d go softer pads, check out Tarty Bikes selection.
Add a brake booster if ya haven’t already.
And sorry to say. If all else fails, tar yer rims.
