I've got a first gen Specialized Levo and love it. Ride up and down a bunch of gnarly tech trails around Vegas. Currently going up Kibbles'n'Bits and down Bob Gnarly at Cowboy Trails.
Been breaking stuff left and right. Went down a mini chute, the rear wheel kicked a rock to the side, it bounced off the rock forming the chute and through the rear wheel. Broke a number of spokes. Also shredded the ratcheting mechanism on the last rear wheel.
The wheels are taking a beating. I keep paying for repairs (and new wheels) because it's so much damn fun. So my question is: what are the strongest wheels? 27.5 plus. I don't care about weight, the ebike takes care of that.

thanks in advance.
I ordered a dt Swiss FR 560 27.5..... knowing my rear existing rim had been punished, l was recommended by the wheel builder himself to roll out on a FR 560..... this was supported by larger gauge J spokes and l presume e bike specific.... just now awaiting on the call the build has been completed..... then it's ready to roll!
My suggestion would be WeAreOne the Strife model, its a super solid DH model and they have a no questions asked life time replacement warranty. These wheels are all hand made in Canada, all of the material that they are made of is sourced from North America.
You can buy direct from them, and if you get a complete wheel build they use I9 J-bend spoked hubs. Or you can order a wheelset from I9 and the carbon rims that they use are WeAreOnes and they offer the straight pull spoked hubs.
Hope pro 4 and DT 350 Hybrid are what I have been running (I swap wheels between bikes depending on conditions). Both are rated for eMTB. Those are the ones I have personally used and confirmed suitable for eMTB but the industry 9 hubs are also rated for eMTB but a bit rich for my budget but they do sound really cool.
I think the important thing is to ensure that the ratchet mech is rated for the higher torque of the motor.
i have a 2021 levo comp and already dented the rear wheel pretty good after a few rides. decided to throw my santa cruz reserve 30's with profile hubs off of my hightower onto it. threw a rear insert in for good measure too.
For my Bullit build I went all out. Someone else mentioned the WeAreOne carbon rims. Made in Canada, not CHINA!!! And lifetime warranty? Heck, and they're also very fairly priced. Pair with Hopes for nice color choices and saving $$$ or I9s also for sweet colors and higher engagement and you're rock solid, excuse the pun. Flying rocks breaking spokes will happen to any wheel, but at least you're covered for the rims.
Some still don't trust carbon for wheels, but how many aluminum rims have a lifetime warranty? None that I know of. The shop that built mine also warranties the build. Even though I'm not near them, they will work with my local bike shop should a repair be needed and cover the costs. Winner-winner, chicken dinner!!!
Dt 350s on ex511s 32 hole 2 years, 2000 miles, never trued, 1 broken spoke
I literally just ordered some DT 350 Hybrid hubs that run the thicker alpine spokes to use with my WeAreOne rims. Looking forward to it and should be a strong as hell built wheelset.
