I have a Fox 34 Rhythm 140mm fork- I am wondering how I would go around adding travel to make it a 150mm fork instead. I ahve read that it is possible with rockshox forks but I am not tauter about Fox. Please let me know thank you.
Looks like the part number for the Rhythm 150 is 820-02-369-KIT
If I recall correctly the diameter of the Rhythm neg plate is different than the performance/performance elite/factory spec so you can only use the 150mm Rhythm spring.
The process is basically the same as an air spring service (minus changing the seals). Drop the lowers, pop out the air spring, pop in the new one, install lowers, add oil.
I have the same Fork (Fox Rhythm 34 Float Evol 140mm and, I too, want to increase travel to 150mm. I`ve contacted FOX directly and they said it can be done using 820-02-369-KIT (as per previous post).
Did you manage to go ahead with the increase of travel ? Was there other parts needed to be change ?
Yep, you can definitely do this. I've go the opposite way and reduced from 150 to 140. All you need is the correct air spring. As others have mentioned, the Rhythm spring is different to the standard Fox 34. It is dead easy to do and you only need the spring and the ridiculously expensive fox teflon oil. Dont use anythign else becuase the oil in the damper side is ingested into the damper unit, so it must be the same oil that is already in the damper.
Just my personal opinion, but the 34 is no good at 150mm travel (for a 29er). Way too flexy. It's nice and stiff at 140mm.
