Hi guys, i am currently looking for a strong DH rim, some people recommended me the DT FR560-s, but other said that it is not strong at all… Can you recommend me a really strong rim? Weight is not a concern, i really don’t care about that, it could be 1500grams if it can handle rough turns and rocks on quite low pressure. My wheel size is 29’
i hope you have a nice day, thank you for your help in advance. and don’t forget to have fun on the trails whenever you can Smile

Also on a 29. Cracked my e thirteen carbon and just switched to the fr560… my wheel builder said I’ll have a difficult time breaking it. I’m inclined to believe him.
Granted, someone will always find a way to break the “strongest” parts and those are the only stories you hear.

Almost every World Cup DH racer that is on DT rims is using the EX471. Looks like that’d probably be the way to go

Ex471 is a 25mm enduro rim
Ex511 is a 30mm enduro rim
Both are used by wc dh racers and ews racers alike.
Aaron gwin finished a race off without a tire on an ex471

The FR560 is the official dt dh rim. Thicker beads.... it is a stronger rim yet many elect to run the lighter 471 or 511.

Anyone who says a 560 isn't strong is a walker.

Avoid stans....

471/511/e1900/spank 359's

the 471 is a 25mm rim that has been proven to be tough ASF

i've been on spank 359's and hzn v2's for awhile now, they been good as at the bike park and around the locals.

I also have the FR 560 , and at 230lbs they have held up well.

I'm 230lbs, not the rims.

My 29er bike has some cheesy E thirteen rims so cheaper option was to get Cushcore and ride it like it's stolen. My brother just bough a DH bike with stock FR 560 and even for him I've recommended he get inserts as you forget about your rims in rock gardens or nasty stuff

FR560's should easily handle rock gardens without inserts.

I ran a full season on FR600's with no inserts. No problems at all.

Maybe at 2 BAR , but at less, 1.5 where 2.5 tyres likes to stay its questionable.
