I just got a v1 Ripmo frame that I'm going to build up. Any advice or things be aware of from the Ibis owners forum?

I'm very excited and also got this Ohlins fork for 50% off from Specialized -

Your going to love it! I would recommend.... if you can swing it to upgrade the rear shock to the the FOX Float X2. It is a world if difference. There is a guy who did a detailed setup on this bike with the Fox 36 and X2. If I can find it I will message it too you. It was a world of difference once I got it dialed. He basically did all the troubleshooting for us if you ask me.

This bike IMO, pedals like a shorter travel bike. It feels great everywhere.

Post some pics if you got this built up. Looks like a nice build. If those are Magura MRDP rotors back there, you will like them. Threw a set on earlier this year and they have been great.

I would recommend NOT purchasing an X2 for a V1 with its regressive end of curve. You will have a more versatile, lighter, and poppier more "Ripmo" style bike with an OEM tuned DPX2.

The tune is: 2020, FLOAT DPX2, P-S, A, 3pos, Evol LV, Ibis, Ripmo, 210, 55, 0.4 Spacer, CEC001, RLA014, Rezi L F M, Standard Logo


A couple things to consider:

1. Due to DW Link you already need as little LSR as possible. The usable range of adjustment on the X2 will not be as large due to the limitations of the suspension design.

2. Even if you buy a 2020 X2 which had a bigger aircan than the 2019, you likely will be running max airspacers which make it even harder to find a sweet spot. Due to regressive curve of the Ripmo you are adding all these spacers to help add some progressively not necessarily prevent harsh bottom outs like folks on other more typical bikes are.

3. If you think you really need the X2 I would consider also buying the Cascade Linkage (https://cascadecomponents.bike/products/ripmo-link) to address the regressive nature of the bike.
