I’m just about to get a new set of brakes, but I’m wondering if Saints are still superior in terms of stopping power?

They’ve been around for a while and now there are newer, sleeker, lighter 4-piston offerings from shimano that can use metal pads too.

Any advice much appreciated, I’ve looked everywhere and haven’t found a side-by-side comparison.

Got saints, it’s the only way I’ll know for sure.

Did you find much difference?

I run Saints on my DH bike and 4-pot XT BR-M8120's on my trail bike.

They feel very similar in my opinion, both are excellent brakes! I'd happily switch them around any time.

The only difference is the clamping mechanisms, I'd run XT/XTR on my trailbike to match my XT shifter. My DH bike is single speed so I don't have an issue with cockpit cleanliness there.
