So guys, I am looking for a bike to replace my girlfriend's old Rockhopper. There are basically two options (both 2nd hand):
1. Scott Spark 2017 120mm of rear travel Carbon front triangle 27,5 Plus wheels Fox elite 130mm Xt brakes Xt groupset (1x11 - the original was 2x11) US$3.000 (after brazilian taxes)
2. Specialized Stumpjumper 2019 130mm of rear travel All carbon 29” wheels Fox rythm 34 130mm Sram guide R brakes Nx groupset (1x12) US$4.000 (after brazilian taxes)
I am struggling with this decision. Both bikes are designed to do some trail riding. The stump is newer, the Spark has some good components and is cheaper. What do you guys think?
The Stumpjumper is a more capable trail bike 100%. The spark will have older and less progressive geometry. It was more leaning towards the xc side of thing anyway. Also I don’t really get 27.5+ tyres on a full suspension bike. For me they’re nice on a hardtail as they give you a bit more comfort and compliance at the back - but when you have suspension you don’t need that.
