I just bought a new to me dirt jumper, and am wondering what gear ratio every one is running, mine is currently 25 10 t0 which feels really light.

Currently riding 30:14 I like it it kinda reminds me of a nice bmx crank pressure.

Before I was riding 30:12 and I also loved that a nice stronger crank pressure very good for hitting small hills and ditches and anything I might want to build up speed to hit in flat areas.

I think I'm comfortable with both of these gear ratios to change between when ever I feel like it.

But still having the option to go back to the lighter gear ratios as I have other sprockets 28t-25t.

The 25t feels really light with the 14t and 12t cog and that's good for a jump lines thats not at a resort hill that's what those are for it seems the dudes who are just jumping and climbing lines all day.

Pretty cool to have all the options I been riding more park and street lately cause my suspension forks are done i got rigid forks now so the stronger gears are what I'm rocking in the streets and park.

I dont know alot about all then free hubs and drives cassettes all that for dj bikes but on my old bike I got a shimano HG free hub with a bmx crank and sprockets set up in the front. It's very easy to mess with the ratios on there cog sizes 12t 13t 14t sprocket sizes 25t 28t 30t bmx sprockets have so many cool and durable options for sprockets and they all fit on different cranks for the most part fun stuff.

28/10 is not good for 26" wheels. You want to be in the high 50s up to mid 60's of gear inches. But over 70 is single-speed-road-bike territory.

What tire *width* is that chart based on? 26 x 2.0? 26 x 2.4? They will have different circumferences and thus different gear inches.

26:11 on my 26" DJ works for me.

You're correct. The chart is just based on the basic formula, which assumes actually 26" inflated diameter--basically like ProfileRacing did here with 20" and 24" gear inch charts. https://www.profileracing.com/gear-inch-chart/

According to this, the inflated diameter of 26 X 2.3 is approx or on average 677mm or 26.6". So, here is the chart re-done with 26.6" as the multiplier. Front Teeth / Rear Teeth X Inflated Tire Diameter of 26.6."

28: 10 is what I chose, and I've liked it so far, I ride mostly pump track, and park so I don't need the ability to climb etc

I have run 32 14 for the last 10 years on my 26 dj bike. Good all around for pump track, skate park, and dirt jumps. Usually 2.1-2.25 rear tire
