With the release of the Transition Repeater, thought I would share some of my thoughts on it. I have been riding an ebike exclusively for the last 7 months (Scott Ransom eRide 920), been riding mountain bikes since 1988, most recently had a Transition Patrol, Transition Sentinel, and Santa Cruz Megatower, in that order.
I always loved the Transition brand and their bikes. Loved the added travel of the Megatower for the rough steep trails here in SoCal (Laguna), and loving more travel with the 180mm of the Ransom even more.
My thoughts are that if you are going to get an eBike, get the biggest, baddest ebike you can get. Long travel, 29", big (within reason) battery. When the weight and pedaling efficiency of the bike is not a concern, why not?
So, thoughts on the Repeater are as follows. Travel is too short (160mm is nice, but 180mm is better), battery is too small (630W is nice, but >700W is better). Also, from what I hear from the ebikers I ride with, the Bosch motor is superior to Shimano. More power, and quieter.
My next ebike will for sure have a bigger battery. I want to have the ability to do at least 6,000 feet of climbing. Right now I am limited to around 4,500 feet, or a little over 5,000 if I conserve (but what fun is that!).
I agree with Ebikes go big because you are really going to be expanding your riding. Transition makes great bike and am glad they've joined the hunt. Now for there second Ebike go with longer travel and room for big tires 3.0" why not?? And please get rid of that damn cable routed headset.
I'm really digging my Repeater so far, ridden about 60miles in the last week. Feels just like my Spire when pedaling and handles the chunk great. The EP8 makes some rattling noise in the chunk. Other than that I'm very happy overall.

Transition will have you ground down by 75.5cm the chainstay and seatstay hardware and say this is normal for a 8k bike
