HD4 Fox X2 on HD3- Will it work?

Yesterday I tried to make a Fox X2 taken off an HD4 fit onto my medium HD3, and it's interfering with my water bottle. Has anyone done this successfully? What particular cage? Mine is a sideload specialized z-cage that is mounted as low as possible. Rotating the shock 180* causes interference with the remote reservoir and the top tube. Flipping the shock puts the reservoir in a place that my calf will hit.
