Hi, I’m panicking that I’ve bought the wrong crankset. I bought the FC-M8000 shimano xt. I opened the box and on the back of the crankset there are 8 holes for bolts at 2 different levels. (2 levels of 4 bolt holes) At first this had me thinking that I had been sent the wrong item and this was for a 2 ring setup. However looking around online all the pictures I can find online show the 8 bolt holes. Is my crankset wrong, if not why are there 2 sets of holes??

Thanks guys..

You can run 2 rings on there if you wanted to.

So the FC-M8000 is universal for 1 or 2 ring setups?

Its unlikely theres extra holes for storing spare chainring bolts : )

It's widely known that other 4 bolt's holes are for another two water-bottle cages. Yes, those are not the same diameter like in-frame's, those are for special cages for 1.5 and if possible 2L bottles..

What code is written on the crank arm? It will have a number or letter after the M8000 which will tell you the exact version you have.
