Bend riding with my well trained dog?

Heading out to Bend tomorrow to ski a bit. My dog is a good trail dog. He's also a relentless athlete. Close to home in Washington I'll ride 12 miles 2-3,000 vertical feet to "wear him out" (yeah right, he's ready to go again after a drink of water).

I like to do elevation with him so that he gets a lot of work without so many miles, he's a big dog (boxer/husky/pit/GSD equal parts) and I don't want to wear out his joints.

I'm going to be staying right across from the Phil's trails. I know that the upper elevation stuff is probably under snow. What's a good route to get the dog breathing without riding 20 miles?

Thank you, it's fun to come to Bend and ride your fun trails - most of the trail up here are good to go but slippery as hell in the steep parts

Been finding plenty, dog's been good

I just looked at trailforks heat map and been riding the less busy trails.
