Hi all,

I'm in the midst of gathering parts for my Norco Aurum HSP frame.

Gonna run the bike in a mullet setup.
I would like to know what is the best gear ratio for downhill racing. I will be running a 10speed Saint derailleur.

Currently thinking what is the best gear ratio.

These are the following gear ratio's I am considering:
Chainring 34t, cassette 12-28t
Or
Chainring 36t, cassette 11-25t
Or
Chainring 36t, cassette 12-28t.

Which of these is best choice?
Feel free to suggest other gear ratio's.

Thx

I decided on a 38T chainring and a deore XT 11-32 cassette, as the deore XT cassettes are well regarded and the 38T chainring will give a higher top speed.

I find it an okay combo, as you still have some climbing capability. And there's no need to use the mode converter, found that out myself after trying to set the distance and couldn't get anywhere near the 5-6mm as stated in the manual.

Best thing you can do though is notice what gears you like using currently and a gearing calculator, that should get you a better idea then.

Try using bikecalc.com to give you an idea of the speed each combo will give you.
