Yeah, what eshew said. You dont need a 1x specific crankset.
Besides, the 12sp shimano cranks use a completely different direct mount chainring. Most of them dont work nicely with 11sp chains. There are a few brands that make an 11sp compatable chainring that fits on a shimano direct mount 12sp crank (e.g. Some Burgtec chainrings), but they can be hard to find.
Just did this. Went with a DUB BB, and SRAM/Truvative Stylo, Eagle 6k DUB crankset. I like oval front chain rings, so I mounted the Absolute Black version w/ 6mm offset. Chose a chainring to give .65 of rear wheel rotation in the lowest climbing gear. (number of chainring teeth divided by the number of teeth on the largest rear sprocket) I'm not saying it's the correct/ultimate/perfect solution. I'm just saying that it's what I did. YMMV.
