Hi guys, I have an older FOX DHX RC2 coil shock. I believe it measures 200m x 57mm.

It currently has on it a 400 x 2.45 coil. It is waaaay too soft. I did the spring rate calculators and for a 220 lbs rider, I need about a 600# spring. My question is how much does the second number matter? Can i get a 600 x 3.00 and have any worries? Or do I need to stick close to my stroke length?

Also, it is on 2010 Giant Reign X.

The second number can be larger than what your shock stroke is, but that means the coil is also longer. You'll want to make sure the coil isn't longer than the maximum length the shock can handle, ie measure from the end of collar threaded all the way out to the spring perch.

The second number cannot be shorter than the stroke of the shock otherwise you risk the coil collapsing onto itself & potentially breaking the coil or damaging the shock or linkage.
