Im asking because i bought my Son a second hand Specialized Stumpjumper. The bike came with ebike rockshock forks. He is on a S1 frame but we have noticed when he gets any Air the bike tends to nose dive a lot more than his previous bike.

No. Its the exact same fork as a regular bike, except for a possible tune and marketing BS.

Depending on the fork, some could have a different tune and/or steerer tube! Even with the different steerer, the weight difference will be minimal.

I would look up some videos about suspension tuning. That's your issue. As mentioned some e bike forks are the same just a different tune, some are structurally different, but none in any case would be causing the bike to nose dive the difference is not that severe in any cases. Just a matter of tuning the fork and shock to get him dialed.

https://www.ridefox.com/content.php?c=emtb

On the e-optimized tab:

"FOX’s e-MTB Optimized forks not only receive the same special damper and air spring tune as our e-MTB Tuned forks, but they also receive beefed up aluminum alloy CSUs (Crown, Steerer, and Upper tubes) assemblies in order to meet our internal stiffness and strength requirements, as well meeting or exceeding EN, ISO, and ASTM testing requirements for e-MTB use cases on Class 1, and Class 3 e-bikes with increased system weight ratings. The one exception to this labeling is our hard-hitting 38, which is already burly enough to meet these requirements without needing any chassis reinforcements. Therefore, when you see an e-MTB Tuned 38 you can rest assured it’s ready for whatever you can throw at it."

The Rockshox Zeb is also available with 1.8" steerer. Of course, the ebike frame has to be designed for it.

Whoa man. It's one thing to be so aggressive and demanding... but to do so when you aren't even right is pretty wild. I will not draw you a drawing just to soothe your bitterness with the bike industry.

Thank you Tallboy for that snippet from Fox, the 36 is specifically what I had in mind when making that statement.

I put a ebike fork on my bike, immediately i noticed my muscles fading away, felt the need to enroll into a liberal gender studies college program and started asking for permission before kiss girls.

Facepalm grow up kid. I gave you the opportunity to prove me wrong, guess that's too much work for you.

Nice work Tallboy, thank you. That's totally news to me, and I was skeptical on parts list, so I found the list on Fox's site. Here's a small copy/paste section comparing part #s between 36 reg. and e. There is one CSU that is the same between them still.

Been doing some reading on Fox website about new E forks. Yes there is difference. there standard E-tune is same 36 fork, with diff valving and air spring setup for heavier bike. the E Optomized is different chassis also. beefier Head/crown/stations for increased rigidity. As well as the E-tune. Can't speak for other manufactures.

36 E-Optimized Factory forks are made specifically for the rigors of E-Bikes with a stouter chassis and longer durability due to adding material to strengthen critical areas. The design also uses tuning originally done for Enduro use, which fits the needs of the E-MTB and overall E-Bike uses

The work of showing parts lists is one thing; the more draining part is the potential effort of trying to convince somebody who's petulant and wrong. It's enough to make me stay out of a discussion, not infrequently.

Just be nice. It costs you nothing and makes the world a better place.

Do as all a favor and stay out of a discussion more often. You've contributed zero.

Couple of you getting you're feelings hurt because I asked to be proven wrong? Lighten the F up LOLLLLLLLLL, We're truly doomed as a society when you cant asked to be proven wrong.

So in an attempt to get back on track...anybody have direct experience w/e36 to 38. Why would one want to run the fox e36 over a 38 or Zeb on a heavy ebike?

We've established the e36 is stiffer than stock 36, but wouldn't the stanchions still be noticeably flexy compared to the 38mms? Perhaps good for a lighter rider or xc/trail?
