Hello. My wife and I are planning on moving from California to Portugal within two years. I’m hoping to settle down in a spot within a short distance to some nice trails and a cool MTB community. I’d love to get some recommendations on areas to consider. We narrowed our search area to as far north as Sintra and as far south as Setúbal. It seems like there is a lot of good riding in those area, especially Sintra. The Parque Natural da Arrábida also looks promising. I’m also wondering if it’s common for bike shops to do weekly rides. My LBS hosts weekly night rides every Tuesday and more advanced smaller ride on Thursday. I’d love to live near a shop that has that type of community, if it exists. As background I’m an old guy that will be pushing 50 more into trail/AM than bike park laps. Any advice would be appreciated.

You'll love Sintra. We don’t exactly have shop rides, but there are plenty of local weekly rides.
