Hi,

My shock has a very slight but noticeable top out knock. I can't tell when riding downhill but climbing at slow speed or getting on/off the bike I feel/hear it. If I push down on the rear the first few mm or so of stroke 'drops away' instantly, if I lift up the rear it 'tops out' with a dull thud.

Like I say, minor, but now I've noticed I can't tell if it's something that has always happened or not!

Anyone else with the same shock have the same thing?

Thanks,

Tom

How much preload do you have on the spring?

About 5 turns to take up the slack so the collar isn't loose. Too much/too little?

2 turn is max preload for that shock. Beyond that and you have to move up in spring weight. Too much preload causes top out that you're experiencing. The spring is trying to return to its full length and the shock is stopping that from happening. It can and will cause problems.
