alright, so heres my opinion on bender's bike.

i think his bike is just overkill, he has like four bikes with 300mm forks. look at darren berrecloth for example. he's a good rider, he's not like a little skinny guy either, he's big, not like a 300 pound whale. but his build is just big, not fat. so he still has more weight then the other riders. but he will go off 40 foot cliffs on a demo or sx without a problem, then bender needs 100mm more travel and a bunch of massive parts for an extra 15 feet, plus he doesn't even land it.

do you think that bender might be able to land and be a better rider if he just let off the overkill suspension. like look at this bike, he might as well just start riding a big wheel since its up to his neck.

keep it clean, don't turn this thing into a flamming fest.

You have to remember what they are landing on. It used to be 8-9inches was needed for FR and DH as the trails were pretty raw. With the work that is done today on maintaining and grooming trails a large bike really isn't needed. If the transition is steep enough you could do a drop on a rigid. DB can use a short travel bike as what he rides is totally man made and smooth Bender is just going out of bounds and hucking cliffs (and I love him for that). He needs the squish.

Bender does not need to land, the fact that he falls is hardcore enough Smile

no one should need that much travle

Who is to say he doesn't?

I think a 15 foot drop alone is a pretty big drop, and your saying it "only" 15 more feet. Thats a big increase, and its only 4 more inches in travel. Couldn't hurt could it?

Regardless, that photo is many years old. Get over it. I'm sure he doesn't go on the internet and post about "OmGzzzorz that gui hs leik green forx on a bleu biek!!!!11!"

Whatever, just my two cents.

I got into the dh/freeride scene a few years after the big squish/high bottom bracket designs all died, so I'd still love the chance to get out for a day on a pig like this, if only just for the novelty.

I don't think bender needs a bike that big and beafy
my reason: look at redbull rampage and the guys there with ther 8 or 9 inch travel nikes doing the same thing even flowyer
all that suspension makes any thing feel smooth which intern chnges ur riding style
thats y all the racers that r smooth and fast started on flat pedal hardtails

I totally agree with this he does not need that much suspension it just makes any thing feel flowy so he does more hack things and doesnt notice that his riding in my opinion looks bad

firstly i really highly doubt that the claw would hit a 30 foot drop on a sx im sure he would pull out a demo and secondly(i know this is off topic but whatever) I HAVE THE SAME SHOES AS BENDER IN THAT PICTURE Smile
