Go for the stinky I rode everything on mine a few years ago it wasn't entirly enjoyable but its all possible. I had a 05 stinky built up with a big ol monster i rode park dj's and xc and dh it shined on the dj and dh side of things but as long as you have a shock with some kind of pedal platform and adjustment you'll be fine.

I'm racing the new devinci hectik, and its a scaled down wilson frame. its got 167mm travel and I have a talas 36 up front, corners pretty damn fast and handles alot like a downhill bike, but have pedaled it on the most grueling uphill xc rides. Its a graet bike.
