Lmao, i had a KAtmandu, that thing was the bomb, i rode it all summer, destroyed the cranks, the brakes a few times, replaced the derailuer when i first got it so not too many breaks there.

Such a fun bike, now its my little brothers, does anyone else feel like the geo was oddly off, like not enough for street/dj but not enough for xc/am too?

Forks
Seat
Seat post
Wheelset
Rear Derailer
Crank
Bottom Bracket
Bars
Shirters

I loved my katmandu. it did things it never should of. And soon im retiring it. But it will stll get ridden, but i wont buy new stuff for it. it can handle daily commutes just fine.

I bought a Giant instead of a Katmandu, after comparing just the beefiness of the frames, the extra $100 was better spent on the Yukon.

I still have a katmandu (an 07) and it's treated me well... However i have had to change the forks and handlebars. I will soon need to change my grips, and stem, along with pedals. Other than that it's been treating me just fine. I don't plan on getting a new bike anytime soon.

I used to have one, but it broke too often, so i bought a new bike instead. I had to change literally every single part on it... I spent more money on parts than i did the whole bike when i first got it.

Seems to be the norm. My son enjoys his as he is just stating out. He has upgraded the forks (DJ3's), stem (Holzfeller), bars, cranks (Truvativ Blaze), and pedals (Syncros), and BB (Truvativ Powerspline), as well as a new rear derailler (Alivio). Future upgrades include rims, but not right away. These seem to be be the right upgrades and now that these have been done, it's a pretty decent bike now. At least for a 13 yr old, I can't see him cracking the frame anytime soon. Once he's outgrown it, he can switch to a better frame.

Congrats dude. Have fun on the katmandu rollercoaster now. It goes this way.

You First Buy It:
In love with it
First Part Breaks:
Still like it
Every other part starts breaking:
You Hate it
At this point, it can go two ways.

You buy all new parts and get it fixed:
You love it again
You start getting too god for the frame:
You regret ever upgrading the bike
Buy new frame, and have nothing to do with the old frame:
Hate yourself for ever buying the bike.

Or

Buy new bike:
Happy you bought the katmandu because it helped you advance.
Keep the bike to look at:
Laugh everytime you see it.

Thankfully i did the second option.

Anyone else relate to the list?

Looks like my son is in the process of list one.... It's all good though, no last item because he's growing too, and will need a new frame by next season anyway. So in essence he is buying a new bike, just gradually.

Yah i kinda went the second way with my katmandu too, thank god.

My brothers taking the first option, not going so swell for him
