Hey guys, i have a kona scrap. and my LBS strongly reccomended that putting an 8inch rotor in the front (on the stock fork) would stress it and damage some of the internals. I recently bought a 318 Argyle, and i was wondering if they could handle an eight inch rotor without getting damaged?

The agyle can take an 8" but why would you want to?

why do you want to??
why would you need any front brake on a bike that will have argyles on it??
especially one so stupidly powerful??

I run a front brake with my argyles mate.
I can understand wanting a front brake, just not that huge power+you'll loose modulation

they can take a 200mm rotor but for the love of god dont put one on its far to much power for a hard tail.

We don't even know what brakes he has! So that will make a big difference.

Max. Recommended Rotor Size 210mm right off the RS site

but if his brakes are so bad that he needs a 200mm rotor on them do you not think that he should put the money to some new brakes insted of throwing away money at big rotors???

ive currently got Hayes Sole's, pretty much the stock breaks on my bike. Ive been looking at the Juicy's they look really sweet. What would you guys reccomend?

Sole's are, in a word, terrible. For simplicity and durability try an avid BB7.

You need one rear BB7 with a 160mm rotor. I don't know why the Argyle even has brake mounts at all.

O+

I run my argyle on my fully.... Thats why it has brake mounts.

Fair enough. A 203mm rotor would be WAY overkill for any riding that fork is designed for.

What kind of frame do you ride?
