Hey i just got a 36 talas and it has no stickers on the lowers and is basically ready to be painted but i was wondering what the best way to do that would be and whether it would be a good idea. Right now it doesn't really match my bike.

You don't powder coat forks.

well you know what i mean, it was painted white at the factory however they do it. how many coats did you do for ur fork on the stp? and you took the fork apart to paint the lowers seperately right?

O+

if you're going to paint it, cover up the stanchions with some painters tape and some kind of paper, then get some automotive white paint and clear coat if you want. sand it down a bit with some really really find sand paper, like 400 grit or so. then just do a bunch of really light layers until the white is even and solid. if you don't trust yourself, you can get a bike shop to do it probably. although it will cost some money, it will be worth it if it's professionaly done. hope this helps.

No, i just taped off the stanchions with some blue tape or whatever. Did maybe 10 coats of white and 2 clear coats.

my suggestion would be dont spay em urself, they will chip and u wont be happy cause they r nice forks, if u wanna make em white go and get em powdercoated or profenionly sprayed.

and how is it holding up? still look good

Yeah, it's still perfect where I didn't fall on it and stuff. Then again if it gets messed up, you just spray it again.

yeah i'll think about it. but then if i put the fork on a different bike the white will probably be pointless so i don't really know if i want to try it
