Have fun with stupid formats that are super compressed and un-editable by any software.

are you serious. Blank Stare
theres a reason why no prosumer or professional cameras run harddrives. they are stupid and a pain in the ass.

ok if you all think that tape camcorders are soooooo much better then i must be missing somthing, hdd camcorde are a whole lot easier to edit, plus tapes drop a whole lot of frames, plus when you buy a tape camcorder you also have to buy extra tapes to film the same amount as an hdd, and i film a whole lot. This camcorder is also going to be used by the rest of my family and they dont really know tech stuff that much so i dont want my family rewinding the tape so i record overtop a shot that i like, and hdd film comes out in easy to find and use chapters and it gives you the same chapters on your computer to edit with, and i wwant to know what do you mean that hdd tapes can't be edited, i know lots of people who will only use hdd because it edits bwetter than tape and dvd

Sorry, but right now, no other camera in the $1000 price range can produce a nicer image than the HV30 or HV20. But if you don't want to deal with tapes then I guess it's not for you.

Image quality is not determined by whether or not the camera records to Mini DV or a hard drive. There's a lot more to it.

I have a JVC GZ-HD3U and it has a 60GB hard drive and records in 1080 full HD.

Here's what the video quality looks like.

I never said that tape camcorders were poor quality all i said was that hdd cams were a whole lot easier to edit and if i got the flast drive camcorders like the hf100 (still my favorite) it would be a whole lot smaller, so i could fit it in my camel-back, i talked to my videography teacher and she said that i defiantly didn't want to get a dvd or a tape cam, she has tried everything out and said that she still prefers her hdd, also there is another guy who posted a little while ago saying he tried everything and liked hdd as well, i still want hdd or flash, if you are going to post somthing about how tapes are sooo much better please dont because i would like a hdd or flash not a tape

fine. we are done.. but have fun regreting your decision when you have a ridiculous workflow that involves converting each individual file for editing!
