Depending on where you live, this is a horrible idea. A Pike is poorly suited for DH proper. If you have mellower buff trails, that's one thing, but to beat the piss out of it going way faster than you should, is asking for trouble.

The .243 recommendation holds good.

The entire point of a DH hardtail is to deal with that trouble, not to slap a totem on it and make it easy to ride. If you're going over 140 on it, get a DH bike, as you've lost the entire reason to have a DH hardtail in the first place.
