Looks like fun!! 3d printed positives then silicone moulds from that?
the front triangle is carbon negative mould made on a cnc machined plug, seat stays are carbon moulds made on 3d printed plug, some inserts are machined, others laminated in 3d printed moulds. no silicone anywhere
The fiberglass piece there is a helper mould to shape/preform the overlap that will extend from the split line on one mould half. I hope this will help me to get a reliable joint there. Never done that but was the best thing i could come up with. I plan to use flexible bladders.
It's a little ambitious but the goal is to laminate all parts in February, finishing and painting in March, and then take it to Italy in April for Easter MTB vacation in Finale Ligure.
Pretty happy with the outcome of the moulds. Not perfect, but pretty OK all things considered. Had a few do-overs as well tho
"It's a little ambitious" seems kinda like the phrase that pays for this particular project I'd imagine this is not the first time that phrase has come up. Give it hell, I'm looking forward to seeing it all together.
I haven't been feeling the whole YouTube-ness recently. This is just kind of a placeholder until i get ready to paint. I'm not sure I'm doing "episodes" anymore, maybe just things that I find interesting, whenever they happen, rather than trying to keep a schedule of any kind simply for the sake of doing it. Anyway, the next thing after this will be paint, I'm not sure when that'll be but it will be next.
