Hahaha I think if I look at this thing the wrong way it would explode, I tried to sit on it and snapped the headtube lol

Not sure if I missed this earlier in the thread but are actually planning on riding this? Curious how strong it is and how much it weighs. 100% infill with the layers aligned right can be ridiculously strong. Are you planning on printing it in metal?

No this was just for a mock-up and to test the fitment of components and what not so I can get closer to locking in the design. The actual frame will be bladder molded out of carbon fiber Smile

This was printed at 5% infill with 2 outer walls out of PLA, so as I said above if i look at it wrong it will probably spontaneously combust lol

tup like where it’s heading

For those who are doing FEA on your bikes, would anyone mind sharing what kind of loads you use for different cases? Sorry if this has been covered before, I’m a Gumby to the whole home made bike idea but think it would be sweet, I have a mechanical engineering background so this is something that I feel I could someday accomplish…

I would appreciate this as well. Also if anyone has a recommendation for good cheap (or free if it exists) stress testing software.

Updated CAD for Cargo bike build
Main spine is 2 inch with a 1.5 wall.
Side are 1.25 with 1.2 wall.
Gonna be a hefty boy but it will be strong.

Will probably ad some sections for cargobay to mount to and tie the sides and spine.

Gave the homemade frame a new paint job with some real materials and proper metal flake. It’s got 5 different kinds of flake on it with a bunch of color shifters so it actually has every color imaginable depending on where you’re standing. It’s got a black base, so all the color you’re seeing is metal flake. I dig it Cool
