4x is not a freeride fork if he gets that he basically has to stick to 4x and dj, but if he gets something like a z1 he can do alot more because he will have enough travel to freeride and easily dirt jump

For all round riding you are way better off with a set of pikes than 4x wc's. I own a pair of 4x's and I wouldn't like to use them for much more than dirt/street and a bit of playing around on a bmx track- pikes feel more plush (so probs better for what you want).

Pikes anyday mate. I run 454 airs on my blur 4x, and use that for everything. Bmx tracks, dj's, xc, dh, etc.
Perfect for what you want.
