HELP... chain skip trouble!!?!?!?

I have just put a new chain on an old bike of mine and now when I pedle the chain jumps forward could this be due a worn out rear casset i mean the thing is 5 years old with over 1000 miles on it or would this be more likly wrong chain some how

yup the new chain wont fit the old worn in valleys of the cassette go buy a new one and they will sync perfectly...eliminating chain skip
